How You Can Help

Seeds of Hope (website)

More than 25 percent of children below the age of 5 experience extreme poverty in El Salvador. Only 82% complete school to the ninth grade (up to age 14). 6% of               Salvadoran children never attend any school. The cost for annual sponsorships are $190 Kindergarten-9th grade, $370 High School and $1,510 for University Sponsorship. These donations are 100% tax deductible! Stop by the Seeds of Hope table in the narthex to find out how you can sponsor a student and change a life.

Current sponsors: please write a Christmas card to your student. Enclose a family photo and/or a favorite Bible verse. Cards are due at FOC by November 21.

We'd Love Your J-Term Ideas

As the weather turns cooler, we begin planning in earnest for our annual J-Term series, a variety of fun, educational, fellowship and service opportunities on three Mondays in January. Do you have a special skill or interest that you’d like to share with others? Do you have a topic you think would be a great addition to our J-Term lineup? Are you interested in helping with the planning or details? We’d love your input and help! Contact leann@familyofchristonline.com with your ideas and interest.

A Simpson House Opportunity for FoC

Family Fun Kits are back! Last year FoC provided over 140 kits to support Simpson House’s Celebrate With Sharing Program. The kits are designed to provide a fun experience for families when they achieve a school attendance goal. Pick up an envelope from our table located in the Narthex beginning November 18th, then purchase the items to create a kit! There will be 3 different kinds of kits from which to choose. We will collect assembled kits from November 18th - December 9th. Thank you for your help!

Can Collection

Did you know that Family of Christ collects cans in the parking lot? Because of your donations, nearly $450 goes to summer youth trips each year. Thank you for sharing your recyclables.

Shared Ministry Vounteers

HELP!!! We could use a lot more hands volunteering in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, picking up and delivering the weekly donuts, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact Kim Schaeferle, our Connections Coordinator.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!
