How You Can Help

New Playground Assembly Party!

The new playground has arrived and a crew worked hard last weekend getting a start on the assembly.  We want to finish the job THIS Saturday, July 21 starting at 9am and going all day.  PLEASE come help us accomplish this goal.  Bring work gloves and shovels and we'll provide the lunch.  Contact Robert Hoppe if you can help at:

 July 23, August 6 & 20

Join us for Mondays throughout the summer to volunteer.

We will have projects from many organizations that are good for people of all ages (those under 6th grade need an adult present at all times).

No RSVP needed for activities at Family of Christ, but please RSVP for off-site projects online or on the Kiosk.

9-12am (drop in when you can): Projects at church: Chaska Heights Senior Living, rolling bandages, tie blankets, rain garden/yard cleanup.

1-3pm: We'll meet at Prince of Peace Outpost in Burnsville: Sorting donations, light cleaning, etc. for a food shelf/clothing/furniture distribution center. This outpost serves about 800 people a week!

6-8pm: Distributing Flyers for school supply collection. We will be collecting supplies on August 6.

All ages and abilities are welcome! 5th Grade and under will need a parent/guardian with for all projects.

Proceeds from this auction will help cover some of the extra fun we get to have in Children’s Ministry- Drama Ministry, OWL ministry, craft supplies, Summer Sunday school, etc.

Would you like to help? We are looking for DONATIONS of items and/or services to be in our auction.   Here are just a couple of ideas:

- Do you play an instrument? Donate a couple of lessons.

- Donate an evening of babysitting or a coupon to rake someone’s yard in the fall.

- Are you a baker? Donate a coupon for your famous cake or cookies.

- Have a golf membership? Take 3 new friends out for a round.

- Maybe you have season tickets to a sporting event and could donate a couple.

- Are you a crafter/artist? Donate an original piece.

This auction will be all online the month of September and will conclude during the Fall Picnic. Contact Teri Burns if you have something you’d like to donate. Thank You!

Blood Drive

Memorial Blood Center will be at our block party sponsoring a blood drive from 4:30 – 7:30 pm. Please sign up to donate, they are running short on supply this summer and your donation would be greatly appreciated. If you have any questions talk to Kim. and enter sponsor code 4049

Shared Ministry Volunteers

“Many hands make lite work…” Not to sound motherly but we could  use a lot more hands helping out in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping out in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact Kim Schaeferle, our Connections Coordinator.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!

Thrivent Choice Dollars

Thrivent Members Please consider donating your Thrivent Choice Dollars today to Family of Christ. In the past, these dollars have been used to sponsor J-Term, the summer Block Party and the Annual Meeting Luncheon. Thanks for all your support – these dollars really add up fast!
