How You Can Help

We have a great list started of people who would like to help prepare, deliver, donate to, and be on call for our new meal ministry “Manna Meals”. If you would like to be on a team that would gather to prepare meals 2-3 times a year, please let Kim know . You can also sign up to donate ingredients for the meals, to bake cookies/bars to add to our freezer, and/or deliver meals to people for a variety of reasons (recovering from illness, death of a loved one, birth of a baby, or simply recuperating at home from health issues). Please consider being part of this great new ministry! Talk to Kim if you’re interested in helping with any part of this.

Our Christians in Action (CIA) Committee encourages you to continue our usual church practice of donating food items by placing them in the bins which are kitty-corner across from the kitchen window. But further, since money donations are especially helpful (and often boosted through corporate matching funds), we encourage you to see the bulletin board display throughout March above the bins. Gifts of cash or checks made out to Family of Christ and placed in the big envelope on the display will directly benefit either Bountiful Basket or PROP.

FoC packing sessions at FMSC have been scheduled for every Wednesday morning during Lent beginning on March 13 through April 17.  The sessions run from 9:30 - 11:30.  No need to sign up, just show up.

We are looking for volunteers to prepare a meal, or to help serve dinner to the residents of Our Saviour's Housing on Friday, April 19th.  Prepared meals or food items can be dropped off at FoC, and the servers will bring them along to serve that evening.  If you would like to be part of this ministry, there is a sign-up sheet on the CIA bulletin board near the kitchen for you to sign up to bring food, serve or both. Contact Melissa Gunderson with any questions at or at 952-807-1122.

FoC is Register on Amazon Smile

What does this mean?  Amazon Smile is the exact same as Amazon: still great selection, great prices, but a portion of every dollar purchased on Smile.Amazon benefits the church. It won’t cost you anything to use it, and it won’t change the prices on Amazon either. Go to: to purchase off of Amazon Smile and give back directly to Family of Christ, Chanhassen.

Can Collection

Did you know that Family of Christ collects cans in the parking lot? Because of your donations, nearly $450 goes to summer youth trips each year. Thank you for sharing your recyclables.

Shared Ministry Vounteers

HELP!!! We could use a lot more hands volunteering in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, picking up and delivering the weekly donuts, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact Kim Schaeferle, our Connections Coordinator.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!
