How You Can Help

Our Saviour's Winter Clothing Drive

The Christians in Action (CIA) committee will be collecting men's and women's gloves/mittens, scarves, hats, warm winter socks, underwear and undershirts for Our  Saviour's Housing in Minneapolis until December 15, when we next serve a meal.  See the display on the CIA bulletin board outside the kitchen to learn more about our connections to this wonderful ministry.

Cookie Walk Bakers

It’s that time again! We need a minimum of  35 bakers for our annual Cookie Walk. Please bake at least 6 dozen of your most festive Christmas Cookies and have them to the church by 4pm on Friday, Dec. 8. Please sign up on the kiosk so we know that we’ll have enough cookies! If you’d like to help with this event sign up on the kiosk or talk to Kim.

ELCA Good Gifts Program

Need a feel-good gift idea for that person who has everything?  This year’s Christmas Tree in the Narthex is supporting ELCA’S GOOD GIFTS PROGRAM.  An animal can make a world of difference for a family in need. Animals provide food to eat, fertilizer to grow crops and offspring to sell at the market. For as little as $10, you can help a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty for good. Feel free to take a coin bank (Pig or Barn) to fill and an Advent calendar. Take an ornament off the tree to make a donation. Bring cash or check (envelopes near the tree) back to FoC (make checks out to FoC so it goes on your giving statement) by December 17. This is a great way for FoC to come together and make a huge difference in the world church! Thank you for your generosity!

Haitian Crafts for Sale

The Haitian artwork, jewelry, and other goods are helping put an end to the cycle of poverty in Haiti. This is being done by sourcing the items at better than Fair Trade prices from the artisans and producers, allowing them to be self-sufficient in supporting their families and keeping their children in school. Sustainability is key, as well. These items are all created from upcycled and renewable resources and/or grown organically. Purchases also help support those on the ground in Haiti who are working to bring about this change through sales, marketing, advocacy and the development of strategic partnerships. And, soon, the goal is to turn additional proceeds back into the development of other sustainable projects in the areas of education, agriculture, and small business development, among others. Items will be available to purchase during the cookie walk on Dec. 9 and also on Sunday, Dec. 10 between worship services.

Feed My Starving Children

A FoC packing session at FMSC is scheduled for Dec. 20, from 9:30-11:30. Hunger takes no holiday.  No need to sign up, just show up.

Shared Ministry Volunteers

“Many hands make lite work…” Not to sound motherly but we could  use a lot more hands helping out in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping out in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact

*We are especially in need for helpers for all of our Christmas Eve services.  See the sign up in the narthex or email Kim.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!
