How You Can Help

TreeHouse Service Opportunity

On Tuesday, January 29, at 5:30 FoC will provide a meal for at-risk youth who utilize TreeHouse, a Christian outreach program in Chaska. Volunteers are needed to help serve and provide the food. A sign up sheet will be posted on the CIA bulletin board near the kitchen. Questions? Contact Dawn Peterson at

FoC is Register on Amazon Smile

What does this mean?  Amazon Smile is the exact same as Amazon: still great selection, great prices, but a portion of every dollar purchased on Smile.Amazon benefits the church. It won’t cost you anything to use it, and it won’t change the prices on Amazon either. Go to: to purchase off of Amazon Smile and give back directly to Family of Christ, Chanhassen.

BLESSING BAGS (for those experiencing Homelessness)

The 50 bags, which were assembled at the December O.W.L. event, are available for you to please take and keep in your car. If you encounter someone in need along your daily journeys, give them a bag. Each bag contains a Subway gift card to cover the cost of a meal. Cards for these 50 bags were purchased from previous donations and the Confirmation weekly offering. If you would like to donate for future needs, see the display by the bags in the narthex.

Can Collection

Did you know that Family of Christ collects cans in the parking lot? Because of your donations, nearly $450 goes to summer youth trips each year. Thank you for sharing your recyclables.

Our first FoC packing session of the new year at Feed My Starving Children is scheduled for Wednesday, January 16, from 9:30 - 11:30.  No need to sign up, just show up.

Faith in Action Projections

During 9th grade Confirmation, students work on various projects that express their faith in a meaningful and personal way. Watch for some of these projects and how you can support our awesome 9thgraders in the coming months. Here is the first opportunity:

Autumn Thompson will host making washi tape window clings for the Children’s Hospital. This craft is for all ages. The goal is to brighten up a child’s hospital room. January 20 and February 3 in the Narthex, 10:15-10:45am.

Shared Ministry Vounteers

HELP!!! We could use a lot more hands volunteering in our Shared Ministry group! We have a wonderful, dedicated bunch of volunteers currently working very hard to make everyone’s weekly worship experience enjoyable. Please consider helping in this area whether it be serving coffee (hospitality), communion, picking up and delivering the weekly donuts, ushering or stepping up to be an Assisting Minister! If you’re interested or have questions, contact Kim Schaeferle, our Connections Coordinator.

Know Someone Who Could Benefit from a Prayer Shawl?

The Prayer Shawl Ministry makes prayer shawls for anyone in need of some warmth and comfort, or anyone having a difficult time in their lives.  Please let Melanie Wegner know if you have an idea of someone who could use a prayer shawl.  She would be happy to wrap one up and deliver it.

Want to Help Make the Prayer Shawls?

In the cold, dark nights of winter, would you like to learn how to knit or crochet? It is very comforting and satisfying to pray and serve others by making prayer shawls for people. We would love to teach you.  If you already know how or would like to learn how to crochet or knit, and would like to join us making prayer shawls, please contact Melanie Wegner or join us on Fridays at 11:15am in the church youth room.  Newcomers are always welcome!

Congregational Care

Do you love to cook? We are looking to add to our list of meal donors for families who are going through trying times. When we hear of a family that could use a meal or two, I will send out an email to the whole list, if the date works well for you, you would just respond that you’re available and I would send you their contact information.  You don’t need to commit to a certain number of meals per year; it’s very much an “if it works for you” kind of volunteer spot but one that is very much appreciated by the recipients! Contact Kim if you’re interested in helping out! Thank you!

Thrivent Choice Dollars

Thrivent Members Please consider donating your Thrivent Choice Dollars today to Family of Christ. In the past, these dollars have been used to sponsor J-Term, the summer Block Party and the Annual Meeting Luncheon. Thanks for all your support – these dollars really add up fast!
