25th Annual FoC Cookie Walk

Join us on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 9-11am for our annual Cookie Walk! Come fill a container to the brim, $10 ea. Get all your holiday baking done in one spot! NEW this year - Elsa and Anna (from Frozen fame) will be here from 9:30-10:30 to entertain the kids! We will also have FoC honey available and some fun Haitian crafts for sale (* see below).  It’s a great addition to your holiday traditions!  Come early for the best selection. Questions, talk to Kim.

The Haitian artwork, jewelry, and other goods are helping put an end to the cycle of poverty in Haiti. This is being done by sourcing the items at better than Fair Trade prices from the artisans and producers, allowing them to be self-sufficient in supporting their families and keeping their children in school. Sustainability is key, as well. These items are all created from upcycled and renewable resources and/or grown organically. Purchases also help support those on the ground in Haiti who are working to bring about this change through sales, marketing, advocacy and the development of strategic partnerships. And, soon, the goal is to turn additional proceeds back into the development of other sustainable projects in the areas of education, agriculture, and small business development, among others. Items will be available to purchase during the cookie walk on Dec. 9 and also on Sunday, Dec. 10 between worship services.

NEXTGEN (for empty-nesters or almost empty-nesters)

Sat. Feb. 17: We will be attending a hilarious show called “Til Death: A Marriage Musical” at the Bucket Brigade Theater in St Paul. We will have a sign up on the kiosk soon so we can purchase tickets. Get this on your calendar – perhaps a Valentine’s Day gift?!?  Questions talk to Monica Cox or Kim.

Common Thread

Join us for Game Night (Bunco) and the traditional White Elephant Exchange on Dec. 9 at 6:30pm in Victoria at the home of Jim and Judy Seifert (8360 Kelzer Pond Drive).  Bring an appetizer to share and the beverage of your choice.  Each person should bring their own White Elephant gift.  Coffee and dessert will be provided.  RSVP to jnjseif@gmail.com

Prayer Vigil

Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 8am-8pm in the sanctuary.  Come spend a quiet moment in the business of the season.  Stay for as little or as long as you would like.  All are welcome!

John Hill's Jazzy Christmas Concert: Sunday, Dec. 17 at 4:00 pm

Our own John Hill presents his fifth annual Christmas concert.  Working with a number of his musician friends, John, with his friend Dustin Bendell, will play their laid-back style and help you celebrate the joy of the season.   It is free-admission. Along with holiday favorites, they will also play selections from their holiday CD entitled “Christmas” and those CD’s will be for sale after the concert.  Join us for this wonderful way to relax, sing-along, and enjoy the music of Christmas.

Choir Caroling

Come and hear the FoC Singers caroling at the Lunds/Byerly’s in Chanhassen.  They were invited to bring the joy of the season through their music to holiday shoppers on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 6:00 to 8:00.  Get some grocery chores done, and see our choir in action!

Join Our FoC Singers on Christmas Eve

Are you a strong singer (and fairly good music reader) but cannot regularly join our FoC Singers Choir?  How about singing with us on Christmas Eve during the 7 pm service?  You could meet with our Christmas Eve Choir at two rehearsals:  10:15 am in the music room on Dec. 17; and at 6:30 pm on Dec. 24.  We'll prepare two songs, and be ready to sing them in worship on Christmas Eve.  Direct questions to Mary Renz or Ron Larson.

It's Hip to be Square

The FoC Quilting Ministry makes quilts for Lutheran World Relief and various Veterans programs.  Meetings are for tying quilts only.  No sewing is required, but help is always welcomed and appreciated. Join the fun for a couple of hours every other Friday afternoon, starting at 1 PM (the quilters take December off).  Oh, and there are other ways to help such as sewing squares together at home, sharpening scissors, or delivering quilts to the LWR warehouse twice a year.  For further information, contact Lynne Merrick at 952-937-8014.

Altar Flowers

A gift of flowers for Sunday worship is a lovely and meaningful way to remember a loved one, a special occasion, or a blessing received. For a very affordable $20, we will create a beautiful fresh arrangement to adorn the altar, which you may take home after Sunday worship, if you’d like. Sign up on the flower chart on the kiosk for the date(s) on which you’d like to provide flowers. Please make your check payable to “Family of Christ,” write “flowers” on the memo line, and leave the check in Marilyn Syverson’s mailbox in the church office.
