Upcoming Events

Southwest Grief Coalition

The Grief Coalition has resumed its series, "Living and Growing Through Loss" at Pax Christi Catholic Community on Thursday nights, for seven weeks, beginning on September 28 (you do NOT need to attend all of the sessions).  This grief group is an opportunity for people to gather information and support after the death of a loved one.  The session format includes a light supper at 5:30 PM, a speaker at 6 PM and small group time from 6:30-7:30 PM.  This is open to anyone in the community.  For more information, click HERE or contact Pastor Jeanne.

Common Thread

The next Common Thread (55+) dinner out will be on Monday, Oct. 23 at 6 PM at Jake’s City Grille. The address is 12365 Single Tree Lane, Eden Prairie.  No need to sign up, just show up and enjoy some good food with fun company. Questions? Contact Jan Heibel at 952-923-1415.

Friday, Oct. 27 will be a trunk-or-treat festival (think trick-or-treating meets tailgating) from 5-7 pm in the FoC parking lot. Come in costumes, enjoy a light dinner, watch an outdoor movie, jump in a BOUNCE HOUSE, get a face or hand painted, balloon animals, and of course, “Trunk-or-Treat”. This is a free event but suggested donation is 1 item for the food shelf per person (but they really need toilet paper). No sign up to attend this event; just come and enjoy time with friends!  We are looking for people to volunteers: to be “trunks” (decorate your trunk and hand out candy); volunteers to bring candy/nonfood treats/prizes to the Church Office before Friday, October 27; and face painters and balloon artists.

A Meeting for Social Justice

FoC Church member, Richard Donnay, invites any interested people to a conversational meeting to promote social justice in government, held Oct. 30, from 5-7pm at Powers Ridge Senior Living in Chanhassen.  This meeting is sponsored by the Isaiah group, which works for racial and economic equality in MN.  The location is building 1321 just a half-mile south of highway 5 off of Powers Blvd. (turn right on Lake Drive West for a 1/4 mile to the building location).  The meeting room is by the entrance.  Founded in 2000, Isaiah (www.isaiahmn.org) is a faith based coalition of more than 100 congregations and their mission statement declares, "We need a season of spiritual and political formation happening in congregational conversations."  For further information email Richard at donnay@usfamily.net

Altar Flowers

A gift of flowers for Sunday worship is a lovely and meaningful way to remember a loved one, a special occasion, or a blessing received. For a very affordable $20, we will create a beautiful fresh arrangement to adorn the altar, which you may take home after Sunday worship, if you’d like. Sign up on the flower chart on the kiosk for the date(s) on which you’d like to provide flowers. Please make your check payable to “Family of Christ,” write “flowers” on the memo line, and leave the check in Marilyn Syverson’s mailbox in the church office.
